Answer:  A potential applicant may apply for a post in the Local Government Service only when there is an invitation for applications by the LGSC through ​​advertisement. The LGSC invites applications from the following categories of candidates, depending on​
(i) the post being advertised:
(ii) serving officers of a particular Local Authority;
(iii) ​serving officers in the Local Government Service:
(iv)​ persons residing within the limits of a particular Local Authority; or​
​(v) t​he general public. Application for a job in the Local Government Service will not be considered if it is not in response to an advertisement or not made in the relevant form prescribed by the LGSC.

Answer:​LGSC Form 7a may be obtained
​i) at the office of the Local Government Service Commission(LGSC), Louis Pasteur Street, Forest Side​

​ii) from any Local Authority, i.e. any Municipal Town/City Council or District Council
Answer: Yes, applicants can apply for more than one post at the same time.  However, separate LGSC Form 7a application forms should be used for each post applied for. 
Answer: Yes, it is absolutely necessary that the Application Form is received at the LGSC at latest by the closing date and time for submission which is specified on the vacancy advertisement. Applications received after the closing date and time are not considered.
Answer: Yes, in the event of a change in address, it is important for candidates to notify the LGSC.
Answer: Applicants can consult the website of the LGSC http://lgsc.govmu.org for regular updates on ​the status on the stage reached in the processing of  applications. Candidates who are selected to sit for examinations or for an interview will be notified of the date and time in writing.
Answer:Cyclone Warning Class I and II        The interview or exam for the LGSC will hold good
             Cyclone Warning III and IV             The interview or exam will be postponed to a later date and time of which the                                                                  applicant will be informed in writing and by phone in due course.
